Here’s to Reinvention

Bloody Kitchen
What this sh*t just happened?

Once upon a time, this site was dedicated to me as a Thriller/Mystery writer.  The same can be said for my Facebook Author page, which I hadn’t posted on in five years (as of this writing).  Yup.  Last post was October 15, 2019.  Then the shit hit the fan.

I could go on ad nauseam about what happened but the short story is that after my last book in the Series of Shadows, Shadows May Fall, family came first.

They say the top five most stressful life events are the death of a loved one, a divorce, moving, a major illness or injury and a job loss. In the span of four years our family lost three uncles, one aunt, a beloved friend, biological father and my step-father. Then moved, and shortly thereafter my mother was diagnosed with cancer and I became her full time caregiver. Oh, and a global pandemic hit.

There is a lot more in there but I will spare you the rest.  Bottom line is that my life plan was wiped from the face of the earth.  She became my universe and we have been blessed with over four more years the doctors said she wouldn’t have.  I will take solace in knowing that when I wrote this, and created this plan, she was resting comfortably ten feet from me.

So there I was, standing in the kitchen puréeing her lunch when I realized I was not 30 anymore and I was going to be alone soon.  What the shit just happened?  This wasn’t the plan.  This was not how it is supposed to go!  WTF?

Through the course of my mother’s illness and the lockdown from the pandemic, I went to culinary school and became a certified wine professional.  Where that fit in to my law background then becoming an author, I have no clue.  But here I am.  I laid it all out, sorted through and realized that I am pretty fricken resilient, capable of just about anything and I know how low one can go then be able to rise above.  Dream, Plan, Do.  But you need to allow yourself to dream it first.

Hi!  I’m, Mell 3.0.  So happy to meet you!
